Victoria Lynn Newsome (born June 12, 2003) is an American sports journalist, digital content creator, and on-air broadcaster. Known for her bubbly personality, limitless drive, and incredible interpersonal skills, she has contributed to CBS Sports Network, Columbia Athletics, TNT Sports (NCAA.com), Villanova Athletics, CBS News Philadelphia, NBC10 Philadelphia, and AKSM Media. She’s a former collegiate dancer and current graduate student at Columbia University, specializing in sports media and broadcast journalism.
Early Life and Education
Newsome was born in Seattle, Washington, and raised in Columbia, Maryland.
Her early passions included competing in English (hunter-jumper) equestrian and dance (lyrical/contemporary, ballet, pointe, jazz, hip-hop, pom, acro, etc.). For high school, she attended Notre Dame Preparatory School in Towson, MD. At NDP, she was captain of the Dance Company and a member of Diversity Council, Black Student Union, Student Honor Board, Gym Meet Dance Committee, National Science Honor Society, and the National Honor Society for Dance Arts.
In August 2021, she enrolled at Villanova University in Pennsylvania, where she majored in Communications with a dual specialization in Journalism and Media Production and minored in Business. During her time, she studied rhetoric, oral/public speaking studies, government, and mythology abroad in Greece, the summer before her junior year. While maintaining a 3.8 cumulative GPA and earning Dean’s List honors all seven semesters, she also competed on the Villanova Dance Team all four years. She’s danced at UDA College Nationals, Madison Square Garden, The Today Show, March Madness games at the Finneran Pavilion, and performed exclusively for Fox Sports BIG EAST promos.
Newsome hosted, wrote, and helped produce the inaugural “Wildcat Rewind” digital series for Villanova Athletics (24-25). Before her work with Athletics, she also contributed to The Villanovan, expanded content and membership in the Villanova Television sports department, and participated in the Sports Analytics Club. She held various leadership roles as Events/Communications Chair of the Business in Entertainment Society, Villanova’s first Vice President of the Association of Black Communication Students, and was a member of Alpha Chi Omega.
She graduated early with a Bachelor of Arts and Magna Cum Laude honors in December 2024. In addition, she was inducted into Lambda Pi Eta (National Communication Honors Society) in the spring of 2025.
In August 2025, Newsome began pursuing a Master of Science in Journalism at Columbia University in New York City, with a focus on the Sports and Broadcast News Track. In September, she was elected President of Columbia Journalism School (Class of 2026), where she will create opportunities to serve her peers, work with faculty/staff/other Columbia graduate programs, and make this year the best one yet!

Fall 2023–2024
(FIRST INTERNSHIP) Began covering national politics as a Junior White House Correspondent with AKSM White House Student Media, traveling frequently to Washington, D.C., and Pennsylvania to report on campaign events and current affairs.
Summer 2024
Joined CBS News Philadelphia as a News Production Intern, contributing over 30 digital articles and scripts, clipping for podcasts, producing multimedia packages, and pitching original story ideas.
Fall 2024
Interned at NBC10 Philadelphia, supporting the production of “Eagles Gameday Kickoff” and “Eagles Gameday Final Show” during the Eagles’ Super Bowl LIX-winning season. She operated cameras, logged b-roll, and helped conduct interviews.
Served as the On-Air Host and Reporter for Villanova Athletics, launching and producing The Wildcat Rewind, a weekly digital show focused on Villanova sports recaps and athlete interviews.
Fall 2024–Spring 2025
Elevated to Senior Election Correspondent with AKSM White House Student Media, covering the 2024 election cycle across Washington, D.C., and Pennsylvania.
In January, joined TNT Sports (NCAA.com) as a remote NCAA Digital Journalist, producing a record-setting three evergreen on-camera videos and writing long-form features, including NCAA-to-NBA stat comparisons. She managed homepage content, rankings, scripts, and March Madness workflows for NCAA.com.
Worked as a Freelance Broadcaster and Sideline Reporter with Astound Broadband TV, delivering live in-game reports and post-game interviews for Lehigh Valley high school baseball championships.
Summer 2025 – Present
Took on a new role as Columbia Women’s Basketball Operations Intern for Columbia University, managing summer camp revenue, recruiting logistics, inventory, and social media strategies for the program.
Became a Production Runner and Studio Ops Support member at CBS Sports Network, contributing to national sports programming in New York City.

She is the daughter of Vincent Newsome, a retired Ravens executive and former professional football player (Safety for the LA Rams & Cleveland Browns), whose career in the league influenced her early passion for sports and storytelling
